Lynn & Ed are the best hosts I've ever met at any Inn or B&B. They made us feel so welcomed, like we were old buddies. Brought my friends down this year to let them experience the wonderful time we had here. Dinner was great as was the wine pairing. Garth & Lisa are fantastic. Funny thing happened in Tinker Hall 4 last time but even stranger in Tinker Hall 3 this time. Found out Garth and I shared a kindred "spirit" in 3. Can't wait to come back next year!

2/7/13:    Trip Advisor Review from  kjosker,Lewes, Delaware

We stopped here for lunch, and were greatly impressed with the renovation of this 1836 building. A printed history is available for the asking.

Upon arrival, we were quickly seated, and wait staff immediately welcomed us, despite a sizable meeting-gathering in another dining area. The daily specials were described, with my wife selecting one of the specials, while I selected a menu item. Drinks were brought in a timely manner.

The lunch items were quickly brought, and the food, while not nouveau or gourmet, was well prepared and presented, of generous portion and very tasty.

Then the bill came. $25.00 for two lunch entrees and two drinks. It doesn't get any more reasonable than that. Certainly you won't find better food, service or ambience.

We finally made it to dinner at the “brick”. It was wonderful. It has been several years since we were last there and what you have done is fantastic. We brought some close friends with us for dinner tonight and had the most delicious meal and service we have experienced in a long time. Our waitress “Joe from Brooklyn” was a stitch and took care of us like family. The entertainment provided by Isabelle from “Chile” was perfect for our meal.

We were offered and took advantage of a tour of the hotel by Tom,  who is an absolute historian of the hotel, we will be back for dinner if not an overnight, just to hear the ghosts, and enjoy another dinner.  Thanks again

Bob and I both enjoyed our visit with you at the Brick and the Town of Georgetown.  We have been telling everyone how wonderful our stay was.  I don't get Bob to travel often and the Brick made all the difference. He loved the second story porch as I did.  He felt at home and said he would like to come again.  Thank you so much for a wonderful experience.

My husband and I wanted an overnight spot on our way to visit relatives. We were looking for something a little more personal than a chain hotel, but less expensive than a B & B since we weren't going to be in the area very long. What a treasure we found in The Brick Hotel of Georgetown, DE. The inn is extremely clean, comfortable and very tastefully decorated. We both enjoyed the personal touches and friendly atmosphere. It is elegant, yet not stuffy. We loved  the upstairs front porch and watching the activity in the town's circle while relaxing in rockers and catching a breeze. The next morning found us right back out there while having breakfast. Great scones by the way! Highly recommended.

Lynn,
I just wanted to tell you how much we enjoyed staying at your hotel. It was absolutely beautiful and we felt very much at home. We loved the Vines room, the heated towel rack, our own private balcony, and the common areas. We just wanted to have a night away to relax and we were able to do just that! Thank you so much for providing us with such a wonderful place to stay and for giving us such a personalized experience. We will definitely come back again and will also recommend the Brick to all of our friends and family.

Our recent stay at the Brick Hotel was wonderful.  Since we learned about the place online and knew nothing else about it, it far exceeded our expectations.  Our room was immaculate, the food was great, and the staff was super friendly and efficient.  We were treated like family and felt right at home.  This quaint, charming, privately-owned historic hotel is a refreshing alternative to the sterile big chain hotels.  If you take a seat on the second-floor porch above the Circle and pretend that the cars are carriages, you can almost expect to see either Union or Confederate troops to come marching by at any moment.  When we return to the Georgetown/Rehoboth area, we will certainly stay at the Brick again.  (Just the blueberry scones at the complementary Continental breakfast are enough to bring me back!)  This place is truly a gem.

Lynn - I had a wonderful time at "The Brick" and particularly enjoyed the small things, such as the refreshments in the room, the breakfast with the delicious scones, the mixed fruit and the individual coffee servings.  The mouthwash was an added treat!  The personal care, attention to detail and the comfort of the room certainly enhanced my stay in Georgetown.  I don't know whether I will ever be back your way; if I am, I will make "The Brick" a certain stop.

Hi Lynn and Ed,

I just wanted to thank you and your staff for your hospitality a few weekends ago.
My boyfriend, I and another couple stayed with you the Saturday night of Memorial Weekend, and you definitely made our trip up from D.C. worth it. We were looking for a short get-away, and we got it!

We hope to stay there again, so please keep up the great work, and have a wonderful summer.  Many thanks!

Lynn and staff of The Brick Hotel,
My husband and I wanted to thank you. Our stay was fabulous. We stayed at The Brick because it was recommended by the staff at Dover Downs. We had come down for race weekend and your hotel was the closest available. I must say I was truly impressed, My husband and I are talking about coming down every now and then for "get-a-away" weekends because your hotel was that enjoyable. Even though our stay this time was only overnight, you can look forward to us spending long weekends with you in the future. Thank you ag!ain

Ed and Lynn,

I want to tell you that I ate dinner at the hotel on Wednesday, January 6th [at the Sussex County Association of Towns Meeting ] and had one of the best meals that I have ever had.  Everything from the salad to dessert was excellent.  I've had lunch at the hotel a few times and it has always been very good but I'm still telling people about my dinner.  Also, you did a great job hiring your staff, they provide 1st class service (and to me that's almost as important as the food).

Again, thanks for saving the great Brick Hotel, it's a real asset to the town of Georgetown.

Lynn (and Ed) - What a wonderful weekend I had. "The Mayor's Manor" was just perfect for my stay - comfortable, quaint - it's my absolute favorite room! Your warm welcome was truly appreciated. Rocking on the front balcony with a good book and overlooking the circle, well it was just awesome. You've done an amazing job. It felt more like a home than a hotel. I will be back! Thanks  again!

8/28/09:  We had such a nice time at The Brick in your Calvert room that I wanted to write a note of thanks from Mary and me. Our room was wonderful and we really enjoyed dinner in your restaurant. The whole experience was great and even with a downpour of rain nothing spoiled our time at the hotel. We are hopeful to get back to see you, even as early as next month but no way to plan that now . Have a wonderful balance of summer and know that you have a warm place in our memories of a vacation that was just perfect.

8/1/09: My husband and I every year try to find a place that will allow a 1 night reservation, close enough to the shore, always with no luck. This year we found this "diamond" in Georgetown. Close enough, but yet far from the crowded shore area. We thoroughly enjoyed our night here. The room was fantastic as well as the Restaurant where we decided to eat dinner. Thank you to ,you L,ynn for making us feel so welcome and to Peter who works with you. We are definitely planning on coming back in the fall to celebrate our 29th Wedding Anniversary. Thank you again.

PA7/31/09:  My wife just had a special birthday (won't say which one)and I wanted to celebrate it in a special way. We have been wanting to come in to the restaurant, so I made reservations for 10 with Joe and we enjoyed the evening very much. It's nice to know Georgetown has a great place to dine and relax. The meal and service were excellent. We will spread the word and will be back again!

Dear Lynn, We just want to tell you that our recent stay with you at The Brick was absolutely delightful! From the first telephone reservation to our goodbyes at the door, everything met or surpassed our expectations. From the cheerful welcome by Ed , the tasty wine pairings and fine cuisine by Joey, the friendly conversation of Jeff, your expert mixologist and bartender, the relaxing comfort of your nicely appointed rooms, to the wonderful charm of your historic inn - all simply wonderful. And, of course, your own special hostess style that will keep The Brick first in our minds on our future trips to the area. Thank you!

7/20/09: My wife and I stayed at The Brick Hotel this past weekend and had a truly delightful time. Lynn and Ed treat the guests like old friends. The rooms and the restaurant were wonderful. My wife and I were commenting that just staying at "The Brick" was a vacation in itself.

6/26/09:  I'm back home now, but thinking back on my visit to Georgetown to visit my cousins, and my stay at the Brick Hotel. SO delightful! I felt like I was stepping back in time, with all the modern amenities! Lynn has done a superb job of renovating the building, combining the old with the new, providing everything you could wish -- including an elegant restaurant with delicious food! Thank you, Lynn, for your meticulous care of your guests and your warm hospitality. I'll be back for our next "cousins" vacation!

On May 3, 2009, my brothers and I held an 80th birthday party for both of our parents. None of us live in Georgetown, Delaware.  I found the Brick Hotel on TripAdvisor.com...and am thrilled with my find ...   Every person I came in contact with listened carefully to our needs and responded in kind.  Lynn, the owner, offered housing for those coming in from out of town.  All of us live within around 2 hours and opted out.  After touring the guest rooms, I am looking forward to a romantic overnight with my husband…this would also  be a great place for a family reunion.  The prices for the elegant, spacious rooms were more than reasonable as they were for the spectacular brunch.…In terms of the 80 year olds, the hotel and restaurant follow the Americans with Disabilities Act…Our Dad, who rides a scooter … was free to move about the first floor and greet his guests in every nook and cranny in this fabulously sophisticated and warm environment.

We planned this entire day over the telephone.  There was ALWAYS a real person to answer the telephone.  We also worked out the details of the menu via email.  We have a son who is fatally allergy to all nuts and nut products.  The chef provided a delicious brunch buffet that was safe for our son to eat…  We were all so thrilled that he could eat freshly made scones, turnovers and the birthday cakes…

We  travel and dine in many wonderful restaurants.  I have become rather spoiled and appreciate good food. I am not a writer and will never do the menu justice.   We had an omelet station that everyone raved about.  We had bagels and what tasted like home-made whipped cream cheese and fabulous mushroom strata.  The chef offered a yummy, creamy asparagus soup.…Sandwiches?  You say.  Chef Joseph has a talent for pairing foods that one would not ordinarily think.  As I said, I would not do the description justice.

Would love to say we thoroughly enjoyed our stay at 'The Brick Hotel" during the Easter holidays in April this year. The staff were very hospitable and welcoming from the point of entering the front door to our departure!!!!  The decor was very impressive and comfortable. Thank you so much for the details you gave us on departure. The Longwood Park was very interesting although we could have done with more hours. We really enjoyed our holiday in America and find the locals very friendly.

We wish you all the very best of success in your venture in the years to come.

We had a wonderful, relaxing meal with friends at the Tavern on the Circle. The food was exquisite, the service was wonderful, and the ambiance was the best in Sussex County. Thanks to Ed, Lynn, Jessica and Chef Joseph for an amazing evening.

Thank you to Lynn Lester and the entire staff at The Brick for all they did to help accommodate our large team while staying in Georgetown for trial. The accommodations were quaint and comfortable and the staff was so warm and welcoming. With all the stress that goes into preparing for trial, we could all rest easy knowing that Lynn and her staff were always one step ahead. Every detail was executed perfectly! The Brick Hotel is simply charming and a wonderful addition to Georgetown. I wish Lynn and Ed continued success and look forward to our paths crossing in the near future.

"We had a beautiful stay in lovely Georgetown at the Old Brick Hotel. Lynn and Ed went out of their way to accommodate our family and make sure our children and parents felt at home and well taken care of. Everyone of us had a great time!! Many thanks and hope to see you again soon."
All the best,

"We spent Valentine's @ The Brick and were so impressed the loving care that was put into returning the building to it's prior glory. The dinner was fabulous and lots of special touches in the room to make for a delightful stay. Thanks to Lynn and her staff for providing such a memorible evening."

I coordinated an event bringing 11 teachers from the UK and booked 8 rooms at The Brick Hotel. From the start, the staff, especially the owner Lynn, looked after the group beyond all expectations. The service and friendliness of the staff could only have been matched by Fairmont and Westin.

Lynn has tastefully decorated the lobby and parlour areas. We awoke to a gourmet "Continental Breakfast" including fresh fruit, homemade croissants, scones, and delicious bagels with the chef's signature cream cheese.

Each room has a unique flavour, adding to the charm of this historic hotel. On check-in we were greeted with a personal note from Lynn, along with water and snacks in our rooms. The flat-screen TV and irresistibly comfortable bed proved difficult to part with each morning. Needless to say, I shall be returning here, but on vacation next time so I can truly enjoy all the comforts of this hotel.

"Elegant and relaxing. The owners have preserved much of the history of the building while infusing modern touches. Love the individually styled guestroom sinks and luxurious linens and Chef Joey's crabcakes are better than mine! We will be back!"

"Return Day 2008 at the Lester's Brick Hotel was truly history in the making. Lynn and Ed were the most gracious hosts. Just like a perfect martini, they blended just the right amount of top shelf professionalism with a splash of entertainment, garnished with a twist whim. Chef Joey's culinary treasures were impressive and punctuated by his use of local fare. The building itself epitomizes their commitment to preserving the past while promoting the future. Congratulations Mr. and Mrs. Lester, the future is yours."

"We loved our stay at The Brick! The rooms were very comfortable and the towels were heated! The Chef's menu choices were fabulous as were the wines that were paired with the food (& I don't really like wine)!"

"The Brick only recently opened...though you would never guess it. A converted county bank originally built in 1836, this lovely hotel has all the charm of a well-appointed Victorian inn, with all the modern conveniences you could want. We were personally greeted by Lynn and Ed, the owners, who made our 2 day stay very welcoming. They are truly great hosts. Also in the hotel is a marvelous restaurant, with a blue-ribbon chef offering a superb menu containing many local favorites with a notable gourmet flair, a nice wine list, ... and great prices! I will definitely return to The Brick, and suggest that everyone give it a try as well. You won't be disappointed!"

Lynn,

One of the benefits of being a banker is that you get to attend many business breakfast functions.
I wanted you to know that the Georgetown Chamber breakfast this AM was without a doubt the BEST I have ever attended. The facilities were magnificent, the service top shelf and the food fantastic.  Good luck to making the "Brick Hotel" a Sussex County landmark for years to come.
