Meet the “Brick Team”…
the folks responsible for our restoration
We began our plans for restoration in 2005, procuring the architectural services of Homsey Architects of Wilmington, Delaware, a firm that has a long record of designing historic renovations. For close to a two (2) year period, details of the project were worked and re-worked several times which ultimately resulted in a set of plans for permitting by the Town of Georgetown.
Not long into the project, we were thrilled to bring on board as our construction manager Donna Albani, of Sterling Enterprises. Donna is actually a local (Seaford) gal and long-time friend of Lynn’s who relocated back to Delaware after a very long and successful career in Colorado as a construction manager and interior designer. Together with Donna, we hired the construction firm of Miranda & Hardt out of Ocean View, Delaware. Principals Frank Miranda and Mark Hardt, along with their project manager, Andy Lyons, worked diligently with Donna and the Lesters to refine project details and modify architectural plans that ultimately resulted in our final project – one of which we are very proud!!
While neither Ed nor I are Georgetown natives, we have lived in Georgetown since we married in 1977. (We are native Delawareans though, with Ed born and raised in St. Georges’ Delaware – just above the canal – and me hailing
from Seaford, Delaware!) We raised two beautiful daughters, Brooke and Jaime, and during their younger years we took advantage of all that Georgetown had to offer….a great school system, Girl Scouts, Little League, traveling softball leagues – you name it, they were involved, and we loved every minute of it! Our youngest daughter, Jaime, relocated near Atlanta, Georgia, bought a home, and is a 3rd grade teacher, shaping the futures of young minds! Brooke is a pharmacist, married a great guy whom we love as our own, Lee, and they have blessed us with two beautiful grandchildren, Blair and Jake.
Our decision to restore life to the old Brick Hotel was truly an easy one! The town of Georgetown has been good to us; we’ve had a wonderful life here, and wanted to give something back – what better thing to do than recreate such a significant piece of the town’s history! Giving both locals and visitors to our town an opportunity to, once again, enjoy fine dining, a quaint place to have a drink after work with friends, and first-class accommodations is what we’re after.
We hope that you will find that we’ve done our job – that we’ve accomplished our goal! If you have any suggestions for improvement, please do let us know!!
