Southern California was home to several missions centuries ago by the Catholic Church. Perhaps the most famous of Southern California’s missions is the Mission San Luis Rey, founded back on June 13th, 1798. This mission has now become known as “The King of the Missions” due to its grandeur and design. The building features 32 Roman arches and has been beautifully restored. Self-guided tours are available for you to take of the mission during days you want to escape the heat. Come see this majestic building in person and learn all about its rich history. You can combine your visit with a tour of San Antonio de Pala, a submission found close by for the full experience.

Oceanside is home to several breweries here in the city, and a hot day sounds like a good time to check them out. Local breweries in the area are mostly found nearby one another making it easy to enjoy a personal pub crawl.
