In many parts of the country, spring can appear to be just an encore performance of winter. Ice storms in March, blizzards in April, and when May comes around, although the weather is nicer the rains begin! Fortunately, much of the nation has developed an infinity for the annual spring getaway, often choosing to visit a part of the world where the sun shines brightly, the temperatures warm winter chilled bones, and the sea provides endless entertainment values and the feeling of eternal summer, and for many, this destination is Oceanside, California! The Golden State, and Oceanside in particular, is known for avocados, movie stars, and for welcoming travelers from all over the world and when you choose to make your spring getaway to our coastal city, choosing the Brick Hotel for your vacation accommodations ensures comfort and more welcoming! Additionally, we have prepared this Oceanside, CA upcoming events guide in the area that will help you fill every minute of every day with as much fun and entertainment as you can handle!
Ironman 70.3, April 1st
Although this event does fall on April Fools Day, we can promise that the Ironman 70.3, a half triathlon, is definitely no joke! Starting out with a 1.2-mile swim, followed by a 56-mile bike ride, and ending up the event with a 13.1-mile marathon, the best athletes in the world compete to win the coveted Ironman title. Also viewed as a way to build up to a full Ironman which involves a 2.4-mile swim, 112-mile bike ride, and ends with a 26.2-mile run (a standard marathon length!) the half Ironman also celebrates a return to the roots of the Ironman that got its start right here in California! Of course, it can be a little difficult to participate and because you are on vacation you may not want to actually do the work needed to be a part of this exciting event, but it is always a fun idea to watch the progress and stake your spot at the finish line cheering on the brave and athletic souls as they finish! Offer up a toast to their dedication, soak in the California sunshine, and relax; the participants are doing all the hard work!
Oceanside Sunset Farmers Market, Sundays from 5 PM to 9 PM, 401 Pier View Way
Ok, you got us. The Oceanside Sunset Farmers Market is a year-round event, but we can promise that when you visit in the spring you will find your joy! Sun-starved visitors from other states will not only appreciate the beauty of a sunny evening in Oceanside spent wandering the aisles where vendors hawk fresh produce, homemade baked goods, and arts and crafts pieces that you never knew you needed until you first laid eyes on them, they will stand in stunned awe, staring up at the fire in the sky as Mother Nature bids adieu to daylight in a most dramatic way!
Painting at the Carlsbad Flower Fields with Leoangelo Art, April 7th, 5704 Paseo del Norte in Carlsbad
The promise of spring shines brighter in the Carlsbad Flower Fields and although photographs may capture the beauty of the flowers perfectly well, there is just something more satisfying about picking up a paintbrush and making the images you see your own! Local art teacher, Leoangelo, shares his knowledge, his talent, and his love for the painted canvas with anyone who wishes to pay the fee ($90, which includes materials, admission to the Flower Fields, and 3 hours of his time!) Even novice artists will feel in their element as they soak in the beauty of the California sun, the colorful appearance, and the aromatic scents that waft through the air, ensuring that your splashes of color will be something you want to hang in a prominent place in your home; each glimpse you catch of the beautiful painting will instantly transport you back to this idyllic moment in time!
Carlsbad Village Street Faire 2023, May 7, Grand Avenue & Carlsbad Avenue in Carlsbad
A short drive down the coast to the beautiful seaside village of Carlsbad will bring you to a beautiful day filled with fun, family, food, and so much more! The Carlsbad Village Street Faire has graced the downtown area every six months since it opened in 1975 and has become a family tradition for visitors from all over the world. Offering 750 international vendors, rides for your kiddos, international foods, and live entertainment, this iconic street fair will burrow its way into your heart, providing a family-friendly experience you will wish could go on forever!

As you rush from adventure to adventure, painting, eating, playing, and coming home each night to the comforts and luxuries found in our Brick Hotel sanctuaries will be the highlight of your trip! Reserve your favorite escape today!
What happens when your favorite holiday occurs during your least favorite season? Not everyone loves a white Christmas, preferring not to be cold, not seeing the humor in all those videos of people slipping on the ice, and generally not understanding why such a beautiful holiday should take place in the dark depths of winter! If your idea of the perfect Christmas involves sunset walks on the beach, and if you want to find your last-minute gifts while walking along the aisles of the local farmers market that has NOT closed for the season, we at The Brick Hotel predict that the only thing that would make your holiday shine bright would be a visit to beautiful Oceanside, California. Spend a few days soaking in the sunshine and enjoying the same Christmas activities and Christmas events in Oceanside, CA you would be enjoying back home without numb fingers and toes. And when you have explored all the fun our waterfront town has to offer and come home to the comforts and quiet luxuries offered at The Brick Hotel’s seasonal sanctuaries, you will find yourself wishing this adventure never had to end!
So Many Ways to Shop
With the advent of the internet we may have drifted away from in store shopping quite a bit, preferring the convenience of shopping in our pajamas (especially when you live in one of our nation’s colder states) and having everything delivered to our doorstep. But during your Oceanside adventures, you will want to get outside and explore the shops, markets, and boutiques that dot our landscape. The Oceanside Sunset Market, open every Thursday evening of the year from 5-9 PM offers the normal produce and baked goods, plus stall after stall of wonderful Christmas gifts and décor, making it a popular stop for holiday shoppers. The Holiday Boutique and Gift Fair, however, held on December 10th from 11 AM until 4 PM will be making an appearance at the Arrowhead Golf Course and promises to make your gift buying experiences magical! If you are traveling with your kiddos and you aren’t planning on buying any of their gifts here, the fair is offering pictures with Santa, so bring them along! Featuring beautiful wares hand created by talented local artisans, food, drink, and an extra dose of Christmas spirit, this may be the most fun you have enjoyed during Christmas shopping ever!
Continue Your Family Traditions
We all have our own family traditions that our holidays would suffer without and you may be worried that you have to toss some of your most important traditions when you travel to the Golden State to celebrate Christmas, but we are here to tell you this will not be the case! Watching the Nutcracker live and on stage may be the one activity you are not willing to give up on and after a short drive to San Diego and the San Diego Civic Center, you won’t have to! The Golden State Ballet is offering seven different showings of this classic ballet and the talent and strength of the young dancers performing will stun! An evening spent exploring the lights in the local neighborhoods is a tradition you can continue in Oceanside as you just get in your rental car and start driving through neighborhoods; Snead Drive is known for one particular house that has an amazing Christmas Tree Village set up in its garage, and Santa has been known to arrive via air balloon! If you are visiting during the Christmas season, but not necessarily over Christmas you and your family can get in the Christmas spirit with a visit to the 41st Annual Fallbrook Christmas Parade. The beautiful town of Fallbrook is located about 20 miles outside of Oceanside and the parade is one that could have come straight from your memories of your own small town back in the day! Held on December 3rd from 5 to 8 PM, the decorated floats, bands playing Christmas Carols, and, of course, the jolly old elf himself will help build up your anticipation of your most favorite holiday of all!

When you really want to experience a Thanksgiving for which you can be thankful, sometimes the best way to do so is to get away. Fly away to someplace warm and beautiful, perhaps a place that offers sandy beaches, turquoise waters, and a tropical escape that will make you forget any issues or problems you may be currently experiencing! Pick a vacation abode that makes you feel comfortable and welcomed and also offers a beautiful kitchen so that you can choose to create a Thanksgiving feast or use it simply to heat up an already prepared meal purchased at the local grocery store. Having your immediate family close will provide the love that this thankful holiday needs, and being away from the cold weather and potential cranky dispositions of your more distant family member will give your soul the respite it needs! And because all of the above can be found in our rentals at The Brick Hotel in the beautiful town of Oceanside, we think that a California Thanksgiving vacation is destined to be a dream come true!
The Big Meal
Yes, let’s get right down to the star of this delicious holiday, the big meal. If you are getting away from your home this holiday, chances are you are looking for someone else to do the cooking. (And if you still want to cook, later on down this page we will discuss the kitchens at The Brick Hotel) Lucky for you, our coastal city understands your needs and offers quite a few choices for enjoying a Thanksgiving feast prepared, served, and cleared away by others! Enjoy farm-to-table deliciousness at Piper Oceanside, 105 Mission Avenue, or take a scenic drive along the coast to explore the elegant options prepared at Adelaide at L’Auberge Del Mar, 1540 Camino Del Mar in Del Mar. Our proximity to San Diego expands your choices for a delicious meal on Thanksgiving Day, and if you are looking for something exceptionally different to dine on, look no further than Animae, 969 Pacific Highway in San Diego. If you are a fan of the traditional turkey dinner, Animae may not be your cup of tea but if you like to walk on the wild side and you think that caviar shrimp toast and Chinese sausage jam sounds exciting and delicious, we suggest you make your reservations today before you miss out on a meal you will be thankful for!
Black Friday
We are very happy that most stores will be staying closed on Thanksgiving Day, allowing employees to stay home with their own families, and we are even more excited that starting bright and reasonably early in Oceanside on the Friday after Thanksgiving, the stores will open again with some really incredible deals! Every store in town is destined to offer something you can’t live without, but a stop by Ozone at 102 Mission Avenue promises to bring you to new heights of delight! Offering fashionable clothing for men, women, and kids, it’s their lifestyle merchandise that really makes us smile and is the section where you will find the best gifts for everyone on your shopping list. Christian Lacroix notecards for the teachers in your life, Andy Warhol photo books for your own budding artist, and incredible body care items for your female friends are just a few things that caught our eye on earlier shopping trips, but we promise, there is so much more to buy and enjoy, you may not make it to any other stores on Black Friday! That’s ok, though, as the Black Friday deals generally last throughout the weekend, giving you a couple of more opportunities to get your shopping done.
Home Sweet Home
The best part of your Thanksgiving getaway, however, may just be the moments you spend enjoying the comforts found in our home sweet homes at The Brick Hotel! State-of-the-art televisions give crystal-clear pictures of the big Thanksgiving parade in New York City, and comfortable sofas offer a soft place to nap when the tryptophan from the turkey causes you to drift off to sleep! Fully equipped kitchens make it easy to prepare the family feast, and when it is time to clean up after, standing in front of large windows that look out over the Pacific Ocean will take your mind off the drudgery of the chores you are completing and give you a few more moments of peace and serenity! As a matter of fact, we suggest you put off the clean up for a few minutes and sit out on the balconies, raising a toast in celebration of the holiday and the stunning California sunset that helps affirm your decision to spend this Thanksgiving in paradise! The sandy beaches are just over there, so slip on your flip flops, grab some sunscreen and some beautiful moments with the family with your toes in the sand and know that you have never been this thankful before!
